SUBJECT: Major glass container manufacturer operating 3 plants producing 200 million decorating beverage bottles/year.
THE PROBLEM: Although the plant had 15 automatic decorating machines, relative output and operating efficiencies are very low, screen life was rarely above 2 hours and, because of high levels of misprints, enamel wastage was very high.
THE SOLUTION: The Kwik Change Screen System was fitted to the 8 best automatic decorating machines and this was supported by new screen rooms and a series of training programmes over a period of 4 months.
THE RESULTS: Screen life increased significantly and down time for screen changing was reduced by almost 90%. Enamel consumption fell by over 30% and all requirements are now achieved from 8 machines with great improvements in print quality as well as a major reduction in misprint rates.
