SUBJECT: Recently established tableware factory producing wide range of tumblers, desert sets, etc.

THE PROBLEM: Needed a decorating facility and purchased a Tecno 5, 4 colour semi-automatic decorating machine. The self-made screens lasted for only a few hours. Print quality was poor and reject rates very high. The plant was having great difficulty in meeting its commitments to its customers due to the slow production rate and high losses.

THE SOLUTION: The Kwik Change Screen System was fitted to the Tecno 5 machine and this was supported by a fully equipped screen room and darkroom. A series of 3 x 5 day training courses were conducted over the first 3 months to train both existing and new decorating department staff.

THE RESULTS: Print quality improved dramatically, misprints were virtually eliminated and output increased by over 40%. Screen life increased from 4 hours to over 14 hours in some instances with the corresponding reduction in down time. Because of the very low reject rate and long screen life, output rose by over 50%. The company have now added a new Tecno 5, 8 colour machine which is also fitted with the Kwik Change Screen System.
