Rather than being a surface coating as with a ceramic system, Amber Staining Inks use a silver base which, through a process of ionic exchange, becomes part of the surface of the glass. The resulting print or marking is integral with the glass, having no texture or 'feel' above the glass surface. Inks are from Yellow to Red Brown in colour and transparent in nature. They may be applied by screen printing, brushing or spraying and are available on a variety of decorating media. Application: 1 - Screen Printing - dispersed in oil medium. 2 - Brushing - dispersed in oil medium with the addition of thinners. 3 - Aerograph Spraying - dispersed in oil medium with the addition of spraying thinners. Suitable Substrates Amber Staining Inks are suitable for all glass substrates including low expansion and borosilicate glasses. They are particularly suitable for laboratory, medical and pharmaceutical glassware.
