In situations where glass or ceramic products requires detailed designs, clear instructional information, small lettering or multi-coloured logos, ceramic-based decals are often the best option available to the glass or ceramic decorator. There is, in theory, no limit to the degree of detail, the number of colours, the weight or depth of the colour or the intricacy of the design.
We offer a complete service from the inception of the design and layout to the production of finished decals.
The costs of decals are dependent on many variables - the complexity of the design, the image size, the number of colours and, of course, the quantity.
Our range of ceramic-based decals covers all commercial, industrial and domestic glassware and ceramic products.
In certain situations, textured effects can be created to give 'feel' to the design or logo.
Glass decals are fired in a conventional decorating lehr. Firing temperatures range from 480/500°C for thin section Lighting Glass, to 600/630°C for multi-trip beverage bottles and can also be formulated to suit glass toughening cycles.
Ceramic decals fire in the range 760 to 820°C for conventional on-glaze decoration or up to 1100°C for in-glaze decoration.
Preparation of Artwork
From sketches, prints, photographs, etc, supplied by the customer. We include manufacture of film positives for screen making and supply of one proof sheet of decals sent by courier for customer approval.
If camera ready artwork is supplied which requires no retouching or adjusting in any way, film positives may be made directly and one proof sheet of decals sent by courier for customer approval.
Prices of Decals
Prices are calculated on a 'per sheet' basis rather than a 'per decal' basis.
The number of decals or 'images' per sheet is dependent on the size of the decal. Using standard 80 x 60 cm sheets, the number of images will be as follows:
5 x 5 cm image - 117 per sheet
71/2 x 71/2 cm image - 72 per sheet
10 x 10 cm image - 39 per sheet
The following table gives the number of sheets required for a given number of decals shown in the left-hand column:
